Art Exhibition: Niklaus Krebs

Nature in general, and forests and wood in particular, sparked my interest as early as my childhood. I began working with wood about 20 years ago. The sculptures often already contain their basic forms within them, and the naturally grown material reveals a certain expressiveness. When I work with the wood, I let myself be inspired by it and bring it to life as a finished sculpture. Fundamentally, working with wood is always an interplay and an engagement with the material preformed by nature. For me, it is in many ways a sensual and emotional experience that stimulates the imagination. I am delighted when viewers share in this experience.
