Art Exhibition: Ueli Binggeli

Ueli Binggeli, a native of Schwarzenburg, has made a name for himself over the years as a set and lighting designer, for example at the Thunersee Festival with his harmonious lighting designs and set pieces. For the past five years, he has also been expressing his creativity through the visual arts, creating small and large sculptures of archaic simplicity. His preferred materials are wood—some of which comes from the Gantrisch region—as well as concrete cast into various forms. The artist is fascinated by their texture, in part because working with and producing them requires perseverance and discipline. The abstract sculptures—some left in their natural state, others designed with sophisticated color gradients—are based on themes such as movement, independence, and life.
